Chapter 2: Mission Amid a nationwide nurse’s strike, the White Birch Group is formed, comprising young women who work as nurses. The Sixth All-America Convention and parade take place in Los Angeles with the participation of the Fuji Fife and Drum Corps from Japan. Chapter 3: Fierce Winds Shin’ichi develops acute bronchial pneumonia with a high fever and relentless bouts of coughing. Despite doctors’ warning, he proceeds with a planned trip to Kansai.
